Ayodhya : Sri Ram Janm Bhoomi
The unshakeable faith of believers is evidence that the disputed site in Ayodhya was the birthplace of Lord Ram. Ram Janm Bhoomi, the birth place of Lord Ram, has rather been known for some time for the famous Ayodhya dispute than a place of Hindu pilgrimage. This is the place where Lord Ram was born and for ages it has been a sacred place for Hindus across the world. Some 2000 years back the then king Vrikamaditya re-established the city of Ayodhya and most of the temples here were restored. But at the time of Moghal regime, 500 years back, many Hindu temples were destroyed and this temple was no exception. Moghal emperor Babar built a mosque here after demolishing the Ram Temple but for over two centuries this place was not used by Muslims and idols of Ram and other Hindu deities were being worshiped here.
