The Centre on Monday  scrapped Article 370  of the Constitution that grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir, with an order saying “it shall come into force at once" Parliament on Tuesday approved a resolution abrogating special status to  Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution and a bill for splitting the state into two Union Territories. The resolution was passed by Lok Sabha with 351 members voting in its support and 72 against it, while one member abstained. Breaking News : Article 370 Scrapped WHAT IS ARTICLE 370? Article 370 of the Indian constitution  gave special status to the region of  Jammu and Kashmir .  The article was drafted in  Part XXI of the  Constitution : Temporary, Transitional and Special Provisions.  The Constituent Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir , after its establishment, was empowered to recommend the articles of the Indian constitution that should be applied to the state or to abrogate the Article 370 altogether.
