Ayodhya : Sri Ram Janm Bhoomi
The unshakeable faith of believers
is evidence that the disputed site in Ayodhya was the birthplace of Lord Ram.
Ram Janm Bhoomi, the birth place of Lord Ram, has rather
been known for some time for the famous Ayodhya dispute than a place of Hindu
pilgrimage.
This is the place where Lord Ram was born and for ages it has been a sacred place for Hindus across the world. Some 2000 years back the then king Vrikamaditya re-established the city of Ayodhya and most of the temples here were restored. But at the time of Moghal regime, 500 years back, many Hindu temples were destroyed and this temple was no exception. Moghal emperor Babar built a mosque here after demolishing the Ram Temple but for over two centuries this place was not used by Muslims and idols of Ram and other Hindu deities were being worshiped here. In 1991 in a hearing in the ongoing trial in the Apex court of India a locked premises in this building was declared open for the worship of Hindus and from then this place witnessed a new chain of actions and reactions and kept in headlines. As the old structure was demolished to build a new temple and new construction is under an stay by the court, you will find the deities being worshiped under a temporary shelter as per the court orders and the entire area always remains under high security by hundreds of personnel of para military and other forces .
Though this place always remains a great pilgrimage for every Hindu, on your visit here, instead of a great beautiful temple as you might have imagined, had you not been aware of the ongoing brawl, you will see drenches dug by the archaeological survey of India to establish the facts of the place and lots of armed forces.
Still a must visit place for Ayodhya visitors.
