With Galaxy of Leaders in Attendance, Sushma Swaraj Cremated with full State Honours

If life can be kind and cruel at the same time, yesterday exemplified it. Just a few hours after tweeting her message to PM Modi about her lifetime of wait, Sushma Swaraj breathed her last. She died of a cardiac arrest in New Delhi at the age of 67.

Last Journey of Sushma Swaraj
It was a day to rejoice for the BJP, and Sushma Swaraj was no exception. She thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeting, "Thank you Prime Minister. Thank you very much. I was waiting to see this day in my lifetime."
Sushma Swaraj's last tweet at 7.23 pm on August 6 said it all - a lifelong wish finally fulfilled. Her dream was to see the end of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir. She and her party had dreamt and advocated this for long.
Sushma Swraj’s Last Rites Performed with Full State Honours
Hundreds of people, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and veteran party leader L K Advani, bid farewell to former external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj as her mortal remains were consigned to flames in Delhi yesterday.
Bhutan's former Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, several leaders from the NDA as well the opposition, were also present.
As Sushma Swaraj, known for her oratory skills and humanitarian approach, left on her last journey, people in large numbers congregated to bid her adieu.
In her passing away, the BJP and Indian politics lost a leader who was not just a powerful orator but also one who was humane, sensitive and approachable to the common person. In many ways, Sushma Swaraj's political journey is the journey of a woman who broke glass ceilings, one by one, to exemplify how women too can excel in politics -- an arena traditionally dominated by men.
